Syrian, French leaders hold phone call to discuss Syria’s situation
The leaders addressed recent political and security developments, expressing opposition to separatist movements and highlighting the need to preserve Syria’s territorial integrity. They also agreed on the urgency of rebuilding Syria after nearly 14 years of civil war, stressing the importance of creating conditions conducive to economic and development projects.
The conversation comes as Damascus moves to consolidate state authority following the announcement of a nationwide ceasefire and the full reintegration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). This follows a military operation in which the Syrian Army regained significant territory in eastern and northeastern Syria after repeated violations of previous agreements with the SDF.
Since the ouster of the Bashar al-Assad regime in December 2024, the Syrian government has intensified efforts to restore security and stability across the country.
