Jordan Rushes to Dispatch Aid Convoy to Syria

(MENAFN) Jordan deployed a humanitarian relief convoy to Syria on Monday, the nation's military confirmed in an official statement.

The Jordanian Armed Forces mobilized 51 trucks loaded with critical food provisions and emergency supplies for the operation.

Delivery logistics were synchronized with Syrian government authorities to guarantee streamlined aid distribution, with objectives centered on alleviating hardships facing populations impacted by prevailing circumstances throughout the country, the statement said.

The relief operation arrives as tens of thousands of civilians flee their residences in Syria's northern metropolis of Aleppo amid hostilities between the Syrian interim government and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

A ceasefire agreement materialized between both factions on Friday following prolonged periods of fierce combat, artillery bombardment, and unmanned aerial attacks in Aleppo's Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods. The final SDF combatants evacuated Aleppo on Sunday.
